The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) and Delhi Technological University (DTU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the areas of training, capacity building, research, innovation, and knowledge sharing in the field of official statistics on 10 July.
The MoU was formally signed by Vivek Srivastava, Director, National Statistical Systems Training Academy (NSSTA), MoSPI, and Binod Doley, Registrar, Delhi Technological University, in the presence of senior officials from MoSPI and the University.
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Prateek Sharma, Vice Chancellor, DTU, stated that the MoU establishes a strong platform for collaborative research between DTU and MoSPI, bringing academic expertise to bear on questions of national statistical importance.
P R Meshram, Director General (Data Governance), MoSPI, highlighted that the partnership would be mutually beneficial by bringing academic rigour to areas such as data governance while providing students with opportunities to work with real-world datasets. He also informed students about the various opportunities available at MoSPI, including internships, research projects, and academic collaborations.
The partnership is expected to strengthen the synergy between academia and government by promoting data-driven research, evidence-based policymaking, and innovation in the field of official statistics.
